Cupping

Cupping is an ancient healing technique that has been adapted to use in modern massage therapy to help release tension and increase circulation. It is often helpful for areas of chronic tension, stiffness or general stagnation within in the body.

During a massage session cupping might be applied with silicone cups or traditional glass fire cupping. The suction from the cups will lift the top layers of tissue, ecouraging blood flow to the area where the cup is applied which will help release tense spots and aid in the bodies natural detoxification process.

Cupping is a great co modality to use with massage because it helps round out the treatment by drawing the tissues upwards away from the body to create space, where massage uses compression to move things through.

After a cupping session you may have round circular cupping marks left on skin that typically last a few days. Traditionally it is advised to keep cupping sites covered and avoid cold water or too much sun/air exposure for first 24hrs after session.
